Our Community

Big Sky Community and Nonprofit Information

The Big Sky community food bank utilizes community resources to preserve the food security, health and dignity of those in need in the Big Sky area. We also work alongside community partners to advocate for equitable access to goods and services for the Big Sky workforce.

Big Sky Resort Tax

Resort Tax is the funding partner for most of Big Sky’s non-profits. Information about why and how they support the Big Sky Community is available on their website for each year’s funding cycle. Each program is assessed using the Our Big Sky strategic plan, spearheaded by BSRAD in 2019.

Volunteer Big Sky

Volunteer Big Sky is the volunteering platform utilized by most of our community non-profit organizations.

Big Sky Sustainability Network Organization (SNO)

Working to achieve a more sustainable mountain lifestyle today. Big Sky SNO is working to build more infrastructure for an eco-friendly and sustainably aware approach to the mountain lifestyle in and around our community.

Big Sky Community Housing Trust

In July of 2020, Big Sky Community Housing Trust became an independent nonprofit that supports the local economy and enhances the character of the community by improving the availability of affordable homes for residents.

Elevate Big Sky

Elevate Big Sky is a coalition of funders working strategically to identify and fund our area services and workforce.

Navigate Big Sky

A website intending to foster citizen engagement and awareness within the community, Navigate Big Sky is a web-based tool offering a concise snapshot of community activity. The site is free for all who want to use the comprehensive calendar or post an event.

Big Sky is unique in how it operates. We are an unincorporated, Census-Designated Place (CDP) that straddles Gallatin and Madison Counties, with 7 Special Districts, more than 80 Home Owner Associations (HOAs) and 50 community based nonprofits. To make it work, it takes engaged citizens like YOU, who are willing to plug in and make a difference.

Please refer to each organization’s website for when and how their board meetings will proceed.
